Logo + Brand Development | Mind Full of Words

LoGO DESIGN + brand development | mind full of words (2016)

Mind Full of Words is a literacy program for preschoolers in the city of St. Louis. The program promotes reading, writing, and learning at a young age to prepare children for higher education. For this project, I was originally asked to create designs for sweatbands and tote bags to be used as promotional items at the program's first, official event. Whilst I was in the process of creating these designs, the client contacted me in a panic - the graphic designer she hired to design the logo fell ill and couldn't complete the design. I happily agreed to create the logo design for her and we got to work discussing her ideas. The client wanted something that represented community and learning, but was still child-friendly. The design I created emphasizes the connection of learning between both youth and adults. It conveys not just the playfulness and energy of the program, but the strength and intelligence of the program, too.

In addition to the promotional and logo designs, I created visual identity guidelines for Mind Full of Words. The guidelines contain instructions for the usage of the logo, as well as information on the colors and typography that should be used when identifying the brand.
